D7 or Passive Income provides the opportunity to non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens that are exploring relocation options in European countries, individuals that have non-salary derived passive income (i.e., pensioners, investors, property owners with rental income, or entrepreneurs with income from remote jobs or have other means of supporting themselves)
Unlike the Golden visa for Portugal, this program attracts individuals that are not looking to make a significant economic investment (similar to the D2 visa). D7 / Passive Income visa is not only for retirees but is ideal for freelancers or business owners with remote earnings
The legal basis for this ‘D’ type visa can be found in article 60(2) of Law No. 23/2007 from July 4.
Investment Options
The program requires you to prove that you are generating passive income of EUR 760 per month “EUR 9,120 per annum” (If you are looking to include your family then you must prove EUR 4,560 for your spouse or dependent parents and for each dependent child you must prove EUR 2,736 per annum), the applicant must prove that you have made the arrangements for their stay (purchase or lease of property “minimum one year lease”) and have a valid health insurance.

INITIAL CONSULTATION
ONBOARDING

INITIAL DUE DILIGENCE
We collect basic documents and perform initial Due Diligence check to eliminate the risk of failure. In case if we find any risk involved that causes application rejection, we offer a suitable alternative or decline to proceed further with your consent.
COLLECTION OF DOCUMENTS
You sign the retainer, and our Investment Migration Advisors will assist you on selecting the property for buying or renting and this can be done via POA "Power of Attorney", obtaining the document(s) required as per concerned authority, dedicated staff will be assigned throughout the application process.
APPLICATION SUBMISSION
Complete application forms, and legalized documents are submitted with the concern Government agency responsible for migration.
GOVERNMENT DECISSION
Upon clarence of the Due Diligence, the Government approves the application, and your visa will be pasted onto your passport.
ISSUANCE OF RESIDENCE CARD
Initially you will be granted a four month’s visa that allows you to visit Portugal, apply for residence permit, and submit your biometrics. First permit will be valid for 2 years and renewable for additional 3 years afterwards.

The residence permit is valid for 2 years and renewable for an additional 3 years afterwards. Permit holders and any of their family members that are part of application must have over 6 months of physical stay in Portugal.

CAN THIS RESIDENCE PERMIT BE CONVERTED TO CITIZENSHIP?
Yes, upon completion of 5 years on D7/ Passive Income visa you may apply for a Permanent Residence or Citizenship of Portugal, provided you have completed the residency requirement, learnt A2 level of Portuguese language, and have no criminal records. DO I NEED TO PAY TAX?
Yes, one of the mandatory requirements of D7/ Passive Income visa for Portugal is to reside in Portugal and spent over 183 days a year, so your income (i.e., income on your business, salary, or property rental) generated in Portugal will be taxed.
